The chip-music community forum (chipmusic.org) whose Nintendo Handhelds and General Discussion boards hold much of the lsdj folk knowledge of the 2010s: command semantics, drum recipes, table methods, save-file swapping and reposted interviews. Members quoted in this wiki include SketchMan3, herr_prof, Dire Hit, danimal cannon, Zef, Mrwimmer, LazierGunz, nitro2k01, tyler-barnes, bryface and PixyJunket, and on the C64 side ant1, 4mat, Jellica, iLKke, Awol, breakphase, chunter, n00bstar and Murenius (sources: the summaries below). The forum blocks plain fetchers; pages load with a browser user agent, and the extracted posts live in raw/chipmusic/.

The forum as a distribution channel#

Beside the threads themselves, the forum is where C64 and Game Boy tools reached their users:

• cheesecutter, 2014: the editor came from theyamo.kapsi.fi/ccutter, but help and the Mac OS X build went through the CheeseCutter Facebook group — an0va, on this forum: "I remember having to sign up into the facebook group just to get a copy" (source: s-chipmusic-cheesecutter-tutorial-thread).
• defMON, 2014–2021: the defMON wiki's own links call the chipmusic thread (topic 14505) "the de facto support channel", and release notes credit testing to forum members by name — "testing thanks to F7sus4 at chipmusic.org" (source: s-defmon-wiki-releases). The hardware went the same way: Scannerboy's C64 user-port sync adapter (LSDj, Nanoloop, MIDI clock, DIN sync, 24–2 ppqn) had no shop — "try the defMON thread at chipmusic.org to get one" (source: s-defmon-wiki-sync-and-stereo).
• lsdj kits: little-scale's 2014 loud TR-808 rebuild answers, a year later, exactly what a 2013 thread here had asked for — "I kind of wish someone would do a remaster of all the stock kits… they really are quiet for no reason!" (herr_prof). The 2014 post claims no connection; the sequence is recorded, not a cause (source: s-little-scale-lsdj-kit-releases).
