Rage (Harri Blom)

Finnish tracker of Jade and Night55, 2nd in the Assembly '95 multichannel music competition with "Guild of Sounds". The main source for this page is his TraxWeekly interview of May 1996 (source: s-tw060-interview-rage).

Facts#

• Harri Blom, 18 in May 1996, from Kankaanpää, just out of school; guitar lessons "for a long time", no other musical training.
• Dabbled with protracker on an Amiga 500, then "started tracking seriously after going to asm94"; drawn in by purple-motion and Lizardking. Assembly '95's 2nd place — ahead of Lizardking, "my hero" — "helped me break into the scene".
• Groups: Jade (longest; the Hope musicdisk, the coming Gems disk, a planned demo) and Night55 (joined spring 1996; "Superpop" on its Grandeur disk). Asked for demo music by Fobia Design and others.
• Songs he rates: "Green" (Hope), "Guild of Sounds", "Under Pressure"; also on ftp.cdrom.com: "Shred With Me" (MOD), "Space and Time", "Errorzone Zero", "Mystique", "No Truth" (XM files, see xm-format).
• Never rips from modules but welcomes others using his samples (sample-ripping); dislikes timed sample-pack compos such as the 20-minute-chip-compo — "I can't do anything good in twenty minutes" (compos).
• Favourites: Dune, Zodiak, Radix, Cybelius, Jogeir ("Attributed Horror"), skaven ("Rama Gardens"); calls his then-unreleased friend Elwood "the most underrated composer".
