Three tricks in IT's sample window (F3): smoothingAlt-E (resize with interpolation) to length +1, then −1, damps high frequencies; a crude noise gateAlt-A to unsign, Alt-M amplify to ~103–104 %, Alt-A again, which zeroes small values and makes percussion "staticky" (Cool Edit does it better); quarter-tone scales — load a sample twice and multiply one copy's playback rate by 1.0293 (2^(1/24)), then alternate the two samples for 24-note-per-octave melodies.
