Leinad (Daniel Falk)
Swedish composer of the Amiga era (from 1989, most active 1990–91) who by 1995 tracked on a PC for the games of MAGE, the small development outfit he ran with friends, and wrote multimedia for a living. - Daniel Falk, 23 in March 1995, Sweden; multimedia author (3D animation, video and image editing, sampling, Director programming). Former group Avalanche, dropped by him and Fabian (Zax); MAGE was "a couple of friends who are developing games" — its action game Iron Plague was to get his music.
- About 25 released songs: Carry My Torch (for an unfinished game; on a Syntax Error musicdisk), Vote 4 Me and The Happy Hamster Hop (Assembly '94), Kingdom of the Hedgehogs, Fear of The Exams, Do it! Pull the Trigger; songs with singing and rap, "no Ace of Base covers". Drummer for 12–13 years; a Kawai K4 synth since 18.
- Gear and tools: Amiga 500 with AudioMaster III for sampling (better quality, he found, than his gravis-ultrasound), a Dr-550 drum machine, CDs; on the PC Extreme's Tracker (beta-tested before fasttracker-2 existed, chosen because it suits "ProTracker nerds"), FT2 and GoldWave. Disliked text-mode trackers such as scream-tracker-3. No longer used protracker itself, but kept the "Amiga rules" for four-channel entries so he could enter every party compo (compos).
- Workflow: samples first (mostly self-made), simple drums, chords, structure, leads, then back to the drums and a volume-balance pass — see tracking-workflow. Advice: "Try to be original. And if you can't, at least not boring."
