CyberTracker
A native C64 sid tracker with a FastTracker II-like interface, by Cyberbrain (source: s-sidin13-tsm-freedom-interview). The wiki knows it only through user testimony in the sidin interviews of 2004–2010: easy to learn and good for beginners, but with a packer that never left beta — the reason tsm moved to goattracker.
Facts#
- Author: "CyberTracker by Cyberbrain" (source: s-sidin13-tsm-freedom-interview); jan-harries calls it "Cybertracker from NoName" (source: s-sidin06-harries-interview).
- Interface: "very similar to FastTracker II", so for tsm learning it "was just a matter of understanding how the SID worked" (source: s-sidin13-tsm-freedom-interview).
- Beginner-friendly: Jan Harries, 2004 — "a very good tracker for beginners" because it shows ADSR and filters graphically (adsr-envelope, filter-programming) (source: s-sidin06-harries-interview).
- The packer problem: in 2010 its packer "was (and still is) in early beta stage" — packed songs "were too big and used too much rastertime" and some would not pack at all, so CyberTracker music "was almost unusable for demos, games"; TSM's Pick Up Sticks tune had to be redone in goattracker (source: s-sidin13-tsm-freedom-interview).
- 2004 standing: dustbin — Cybertracker and Odintracker are "user friendly and it's fantastic to see they've been developed in this years" (source: s-sidin07-dustbin-interview).
- Influence: hermit — "Cybertracker, Odintracker, DMC and JCH's editor were the trackers that inspired me" (dmc, JCH); his 3SID tracker can be used with fewer SIDs "as in Cybertracker, but not specialized. Only leave the other SID-tracks empty" (source: s-sidin12-hermit-interview).
- As a benchmark: Tognon reviews the 2004 asterion-sid-tracker as "similar for examples to Goattracker, Cybertracker, ecc." (source: s-sidin06-asterion-sid-tracker).
