Mesonyx (Jon Dal Kristbjornsson)
Fifteen-year-old composer from Reykjavik, Iceland, who wrote the music for the game Xixit in one day; member of Infinity Productions, Rage Technologies and The Green Grapes. The single source is his "Faces in the Crowd" interview of September 1995 (source: s-tw028-faces-in-the-crowd-mesonyx).
Facts#
- Composing for about three years, since getting an Acorn Archimedes; in the PC scene for two months in September 1995 and in contact with no scene at all; no FTP releases yet (source: s-tw028-faces-in-the-crowd-mesonyx).
- Xixit: got the commission by begging for work in #coders until "Stimpee--" offered him a game his company was releasing; wrote and chose all three tunes in a day (source: s-tw028-faces-in-the-crowd-mesonyx; see commercial-tracking).
- Favourites C.C.Catch and skaven, whose style he tried and failed to copy. On realism: welcomes the technology, but "recording the original music into ONE big sample … that's not original", and borrowing samples is "not so good either" though he does it (source: s-tw028-faces-in-the-crowd-mesonyx; see realism-in-tracked-music, sample-ripping).
