Ender (Andrew Burke)

Sole musician of Foundation, a small demo group in Albany, New York (two coders, one musician), interviewed for traxweekly's Faces in the Crowd series in October 1995 after about nine months of composing. The single substantive source for this page is that interview (source: s-tw030-interview-ender).

Facts#

• Started composing in early 1995 after hearing music written by one of Foundation's coders; the group planned a demo for NAID 96.
• Nine years of violin gave him his style — classical mixed with techno or ambient — and all his theory: "I think it must be almost impossible to track without any theory background."
• Writes for himself, not to inspire others; found #trax respectful to those who are respectful, after arguments with Floss and basehead (an influence on his work).
• Releases, all S3M, on ftp.cdrom.com under /pub/demos/music/songs/1995/s3m/f/: fdn-innr.zip, fdn-simx.zip, fdn-strs.zip, and fdn-val.zip in incoming.
• Placed 13th in 20mc #6 (13 October 1995) (source: s-tw032-20-minute-chip-compo).
• Nick collision: the <Ender> of pariah's #43 interview log (December 1995) is Pariah himself (Edwin de la Vega, V.S.L), not this Ender (source: s-tw043-interview-pariah).

• (unverified) The "Floss" he argued with is not identified — Floss (George Nowik) of the 20-minute-chip-compo column and mental-floss (Andrew McCallum) are different people (sources: s-tw030-interview-ender, s-tw119-interview-mental-floss).
