Odin Tracker
A native C64 sid tracker, attested in the wiki from June 2002 to 2010 purely through user testimony: recommended in the same breath as goattracker during the iseq debate, called user-friendly in 2004, an inspiration for hermit's 3SID tracker — and abandoned by freedom over its filter handling and rastertime.
Facts#
- An established alternative by June 2002: Blackspawn, arguing against iseq on comp.sys.cbm — "there are already much better tools for making music for the C64, like GoatTracker or OdinTracker" and "I'm very used to the typical tracker interface, like Goat- oder OdinTracker have (or FT2/IT2 etc on PC)" (source: s-sidin01-iseq).
- 2004: dustbin — Cybertracker and Odintracker are "user friendly and it's fantastic to see they've been developed in this years" (source: s-sidin07-dustbin-interview).
- A first editor: freedom — "I composed my first tune only in 2005, using Odin Tracker on VICE emulator" (vice) (source: s-sidin13-tsm-freedom-interview).
- Why Freedom left: "because of its strange way of handling filters" and because its routines "are not very efficient and so too much rasterlines are required" (filter-programming); "now I always use Goattracker" (source: s-sidin13-tsm-freedom-interview).
